Independence is the first step towards freedom

In the fight against gender-based violence, being able to be financially and socially independent can make all the difference.

This is why OMSO has chosen to support the “Autonomia e Libertà”, project, promoted in the Reggio Emilia area by the Nondasola Anti-Violence Centre, in collaboration with local trade unions and businesses.

At the heart of the initiative is the Autonomy Fund, a scheme designed to provide practical support to women who are on a journey to escape violence and to help them rebuild their independence.

This support can take the form of very practical measures: transport to get to work, courses to obtain a driving licence, training, literacy programmes and other forms of support necessary to regain autonomy and freedom of choice.

OMSO took part in the initiative through a voluntary contribution from the company and its employees.

This decision reflects a principle we believe in: certain social challenges can be tackled more effectively when businesses and individuals choose to take joint responsibility.
